What We Do

MAPP helps to strengthen communinity connections and build environments that promote health and value well-being for all. Our goal is to promote health with a particular focus on prevention of substance misuse, equitable access to improve physical health, and ensuring individuals feel valued by their community.

How do we do this?

MAPP works in collaboration with others to shape the environments that help people adopt healthier habits. We engage with partners, provide resources, and strengthen connections resulting in networks that support health for all.

MAPP work results in:

Increased awareness of substance misuse	Decreased youth access to "adult only" substances (alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, cbd, etc.)
Increased awareness of community conditions that help youth to feel that they matter to their communities	Decreased access to dangerous prescription medication
Increased access to healthy foods	Increased access to safe options for physical activity

Our Goals

Decrease the rates of substance use as reported in the Vermont Youth Risk Behavior Survey as well as increase youth assets. Visit our Data Dashboard to see regional trends.

Work with citizens and community partners to create substance-free environments as a way to promote public safety and healthy youth development.

Promote the planning and implementation of healthy community design concepts while working with community leaders.

Educate communities about risk and protective factors that contribute to positive youth experiences.

Align community prevention strategies with Social Emotional Learning support strategies currently offered in school settings.
